North Central Railway (NCR) has introduced a strict ticket checking system to prevent fraud and unauthorized travel at railway stations. This new rule will be mainly enforced at stations in Prayagraj, where passengers will now be required to show their tickets even while exiting the station. The initiative aims to ensure that every traveler follows proper ticketing rules and to stop the use of fake or invalid tickets.

Exit Gate Ticket Verification

The decision comes after multiple cases of ticket fraud and ticketless travel were reported. To address this issue, railway authorities have deployed special teams of Ticket Checking Examiners (TTEs) at all exit gates. Every passenger leaving the station must now present a valid ticket. This means that travelers need to keep their tickets safe until they completely exit the station premises, or they may face penalties.

Staff Training and Zero Tolerance Policy

To strengthen this system, a special training workshop was conducted at Subedarganj station under the guidance of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Harimohan. During this session, ticket checking and booking staff were trained to follow a zero-tolerance policy against any kind of fraud. The focus is on strict monitoring and quick action in case of any suspicious activity.

Focus on Digital and ATVM Tickets

Special attention will be given to tickets issued through Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) and mobile applications such as UTS. These tickets will be checked carefully to confirm their authenticity. If any ticket appears doubtful, it will be immediately reported to the control room for further investigation.

Advanced Methods to Detect Fake Tickets

Railway staff have also been trained to identify fake tickets by examining important features like paper quality, font style, QR codes, and unique random numbers. This advanced checking process will help in detecting forged tickets quickly and taking necessary action against those involved.

Monitoring of Booking Staff

In addition to passengers, booking clerks will also be monitored closely. If any irregularities are found in ticket issuing, strict action will be taken. The railway’s goal is not only to impose fines but also to improve the system and remove any gaps that allow such fraud to happen.

Improving Transparency and System Efficiency

To ensure transparency and accountability, ticket records will be maintained both digitally and physically. A confidential report will also be prepared at the divisional level to track irregularities and improve the system further.
